Not even a bit sad to skip fast food chicken today.Established in 2017 as a pop-up in an East Hollywood parking lot, Dave’s Hot Chicken took off in a blaze of Nashville-style spicy fried chicken, starting with one storefront but now looking ahead to the launch of nearly 300 franchise locations throughout North America. Dave’s Hot Chicken has several other new locations in the works across the country, including in Houston, Mira Mesa, San Bernadino, Lakewood, Deerborn, Plano, Denver, Santa Ana, Santa Rosa, and Menifee. Dave’s Hot Chicken Expanding to Mira Mesa and El Cajon The Nashville-style chicken pros are growing in San Diego by Candice Woo Sep 23, 2020, 8:50am PDT Courtesy photo San Diego has been. Dave, a chef trained in Thomas Keller’s (French Laundry) organization set out to create the perfect Hot Chicken by searching, tasting, and frying. The food came out fast which was great but I was there off peak on a Sunday. This is fast casual and seemed priced normally to other meals I’ve been having during this inflation - not a steal but this food was hot and fresh. Sliders are served on a potato bun with kale slaw, pickles and drizzled with Daves sauce & all tenders are served with sliced bread, pickles and a side of Daves sauce. The sliders are sized like a small sandwich. Daves Hot Chicken (Costa Mesa) 4.9 (142 ratings) Chicken. We shared a slider combo for two adults since I wanted a light lunch. Appreciated the food didn’t have a heavy peanut oil taste like I’ve come across at other joints. I also feel like the food had a celery salt taste or something like old bay. This chicken seasoning was not oily and had notes of dark chili powder which is more west coast touch vs Nashville hot. Not overly salty chicken (as seen noted), but yes really heavy seasoned fries, loved the pickles. I’ve had hot chicken lots of places locally and in Nashville. Medium was not that spicy so I’ll go hotter next time. Frances Lin: Best fried chicken anywhere in the world Sarah Rodriguez: Love getting the boneless chicken meals. Great Sunday option for us before shopping at Target. 9045 Mira Mesa Blvd (at Marbury Ave), San Diego, CA.
